Thighplasty removes excess skin and fat from the inner or outer thighs to create a more contoured shape.

What is a thigh lift?

A thigh lift addresses redundant skin and stubborn fat deposits of the thighs that often cannot be improved through diet and exercise alone — typically after significant weight loss. Several techniques exist, with scar patterns ranging from a short medial scar in the groin crease, through to longer vertical scars for patients with more significant skin redundancy.

Who is it for?

Patients who commonly benefit include those with:

  • Loose, hanging inner-thigh skin after significant weight loss
  • Outer-thigh laxity or contour irregularity
  • Difficulty with chafing or skin irritation
  • Stable weight and realistic expectations about scarring

Recovery

Most patients stay in hospital for one to two nights. A compression garment is worn for several weeks. Walking is encouraged early; strenuous activity is restricted for approximately six weeks. Scars mature over 12–18 months.

All surgical procedures carry potential risks and complications, which will be discussed in detail at your consultation.
